PlayStation 3 Troubleshooting - Advice for When Your PS3 Stops Working!

The Sony PlayStation 3 gaming console is an amazing piece of technology. Graphically speaking, there is no other gaming system platform that can beat it. The selection of games gets better every day, and the Blu-Ray player is an excellent add-on (those Blu-Ray movies are visually stunning). Those who own a PS3 (that is properly working) hardly ever complain about it.

However, like ANY piece of technology, it does have its flaws. To date, there isn't a piece of technology in the market that is 100 percent "break-proof." Even the PlayStation 3 needs to be fixed from time to time. If and when a PS3 breaks down, it causes owners to search the Internet vigorously for reasons why their PS3 isn't working and ways to get it fixed.

It is my hope that this article will help you out.

There are several possibilities as to why your PS3 might not be working properly. Before we even get into the possible "big" problems, let's do a basic check right now...

Step 1: Check if there's a loose cable. Sometimes, your PS3 might not be working simply because the cables aren't plugged in (seems like an obvious thing, but you don't know how many times that I've thought my PS3 was broken only to find that the plug fell out of the wall).

Step 2: Unplug all cables, and then carefully plug them back in. This is done just to make sure that all cables are connected securely. Simply looking at a cable that "appears" to be connected is not enough.

Step 3: If you have an external hard drive, try unplugging it and starting up the PS3. Sometimes, there is a malfunction with the external hard drive that causes the PS3 to keep itself shut down.

Step 4: Try out other games and see if they work. The problem could be with one particular game disc itself, and not the gaming console.

Did any of these methods work? If not, let's explore what the "symptoms" are by troubleshooting the PlayStation 3...

A. "My PS3 has a Yellow Light (either blinking or solid) where the Green Power light usually is."
B. "My PS3 has a Red Light (either blinking or solid) where the Green Power light usually is."
C. "My PS3 is displaying "error code: XXXX" when I turn it on."
D. "My PS3 simply won't turn on."
E. "My PS3 keeps freezing (during game play or when on the main menu)."
F. "When my PS3 turns on, the screen either stays black or turns red in color."
G. "My PS3 won't play Blu-Ray discs any more, but all others work."

Do any of the above statements sound familiar to you? These are common scenarios (especially statements A and B). Many other people have experienced one or more of these errors. The problem is deeper than just a loose cable or a bad disc. Most of the time, the problem has to do with either overheating or a faulty console laser (the component that reads the discs). These problems are not easy to deal with, but they CAN be fixed.

Getting Your Free PS3

Video game consoles like the PlayStation can be considered as a high-priced luxury item. The console alone ranges from a value of £240 to £300.

There are ways to own a free PS3 on the internet. The fact that you're here searching for a free PS3 means that you hope to get it without spending a single dime, am I right? Welcome to the real world. Let's go straight to the point, shall we? I, for one, do not believe that "free" actually exists.

Although I have to say, paying only £5 for something originally valued at £300 is as good as free in my opinion!

Here are several ways of getting that "free" PS3 you've been hankering for!

A lot of websites offer incentives such as PS3's in order to boost traffic for their targeted site. I am extremely skeptical by nature and this particular method of earning free gifts on the internet sounded suspicious so I brushed it off as a "scam". Admittedly, I have never tried it but after quite a bit of research, I found out that the BBC and CNN have both reported on this "rewards" system. I thought to reconsider my stance on the topic.

The system works by registering at a referral website (there are literally hundreds of these on the internet) and they get you to try out free products and trial offers of a particular service. They are assuming that by sending you one of their products, they can then convince you to buy it. The original site that made the referral then earns enough profit enabling them to give you a free gift. You also need to bring your own referrals to the referral site. According to testimonies, most members do in fact receive the product they wanted for free.

Signing up for a mobile phone contract is another way of getting a free PS3. In any case, if you're going to be spending money during the course of this contract, might as well get something free out of it, right? Many companies in the UK offer a free promotional gift to customers because the local mobile phone market is very competitive. The same phone with the same rate for calls and text messages are available through a wide array of networks and stores. Offering an additional incentive can be all the difference they need to attract more customers and stay ahead of the competition. In my opinion, this method is without a doubt, the safest and most risk-free way of getting that free PS3.

This tip is so simple; you can implement it immediately and start seeing results you want! But it doesn't stop there. You can actually take this a step further and increase your understanding using another simple technique. The problem is, I don't have the space here to share it. It is, however, on my website.

Kinect Accessories

There are some new Kinect accessories out for the Xbox 360 Kinect controller. These accessory items are licensed and made by Xbox specifically for Xbox 360 consoles.

The Kinect Adventures boat is a real size boat that can be uses in the sea or swimming pool, but it's a fantastic extra when you play the Kinect adventure game. It is easily inflated and has a no slip safety playing surface and it helps your carpet, so you don't wear out your carpet from playing Kinect games.

Xbox Kinect have also bought out a games mat, this is 55" x 78" and you place it 4' from the Xbox 360 Kinect's camera. This is a great idea; it keeps you within the Kinect sensors. Often when you are playing the games and having so much fun, you slip out of the sensors area and then the Kinect can't read you motions. So if you have the Kinect mat you know the area the senor reads your body movement in. Its added padded protection for your floors and it is made out of a durable anti slip material.

Then there is the Kinect wall mount, this is a great for small spaces. By mounting the Kinect above your TV, this adds about another foot to your living rooms space. If you play Kinect in a small space and often have trouble with the Kinect recognizing you, then this is a must and it is a very reasonable price. 4 screws, someone standing behind you or a level to make sure it's placed properly, it literally took me less than 3 minutes to place the wall mount. Super easy to do & is 100% adequate to hold the Kinect sensor.

The Kinect floor stand is like a tripod and is great for those who have a large area to play in. This is a well designed stand for the Kinect that stands 2 feet tall. It is not adjustable but it stays at the recommended height for the Kinect and it is not adjustable. However, it is a great solution for a family that would like to have an easy way to mount the Kinect only during use.

Then we have the Xbox 360 Kinect extension cable, this works great if you need to extend your Kinect sensor. So if you bought an Xbox package with the Kinect sensor included you will need this cable. If you want an extension cable that's actually compatible with Kinect because of the cut-out male to female connectivity of the cord, and then buy this cable, it works great but it's only 9ft.

There is also a Kinect TV mount and is made of the same high gloss plastic that the Kinect is made from. The legs are plastic but sturdy enough to hold a sensor that is less than 5lbs.

These are the latest in Kinect accessories, so if you want to find out the prices or preview any of these items please check out Kinect Accessories there is plenty of good information for you to review.

The Best Multimedia Convergence Device Yet - Using the PlayStation 3 In Its Ultimate Form!

Is it a Home Theatre? Is it a Machine? Is it artificial Intelligence? It is the best Gaming Console Yet? NO! It's all rolled into one and more! Yes, if you were thinking about one of the best gaming consoles in the market, there is no denying that the PS3 machine lives up to its expectations. It is a multimedia device and a gaming system - all molded into one.

PlayStation or PS - as we lovingly call it has revolutionized the way we game since it was first brought out in the market. From the basic model to one of the world's most advanced computing system, the PS3 has it all! Here are some of the coolest features of the system:

• Games: After all, this is what the machine has been created for - for playing games. There are hundreds of gaming titles available for the same and good news is that it has backward compatibility with your old PS2 games as well. Therefore if you wanted to play some old games and revive your nostalgia, the PS3 lets you do exactly that! However, with increasing competition from other two well-known competitors have dented the sales of the product's game range - a bit. The other big name in the fray has an equally enviable collection of games.

• Home Entertainment: If you were looking to buy a home theatre system with a great Blu-Ray player, look no more beyond than the PS3. The PS3 is also a blu ray player that churns out the greatest invention in Hi-Def entertainment flawlessly. Now that your player blues are done away with, you can hook up the beast with some great surround speakers and a LED TV and voila! Enjoy games and hi-def movies - all from the same setup!

• Network Games: The PS3 network is good. But it has been facing stiff competition from other big players in the industry who have pioneered network gaming online.

• Connectivity: This is perhaps the best convergence feature in the gaming behemoth. The need of the hour is device convergence. There is a competition on the market to provide a system that converges all your work and entertainment. PS3 is a step ahead in that. The connectivity ranges from USB, HDMI, DIV, S-VIDEO, and VGA to even high-frequency wireless connectivity options. This allows the device to be hooked up with an array of system such as your PSP, camera, TV, music system, computer and other devices as well. It also has internet connectivity ports on it.

With advance in entertainment, gaming has become an integral part in our lives. This is not just true for the youth but a lot of elder members are also seeking solace in gaming. With motion sensing technologies and other physical gadgets being added to the device, the Sony PS3 is one of the best in the market. However, there are other similar gaming consoles too which are currently giving the PS3 a run for its money!

How Much Does an Xbox 360 Cost?

The Xbox 360 is a gaming system produced by Microsoft. It competes with the Nintendo's Wii and the Sony's PlayStation. The Xbox 360 is enjoyed by people of ages, whether individually or as a group. Being around for many years now, the pricing is going to vary, depending on a few different factors.

The Average Cost

The Xbox 360 4 GB Console alone costs around $200. It has a built in WiFi and comes with a wireless controller, but does not have any games yet. While the Xbox 360 4 GB Console with Kinect which adds a feature that allows the users to control their games, movies and music with gesture or by voice, costs about $300. It already comes with a Kinect sensor, the Kinect Adventures game and a one month free Xbox Live Gold Membership.

The Xbox 360 250 GB Console alone costs $300. It has a larger hard drive that will allow the user to save more games and movies. The Xbox 360 250 GB Console with Kinect costs $400.

A limited edition called the Xbox 360 Halo: Reach Bundle has been made available recently. It has a 250 GB hard drive, two custom designed wireless controllers, and a copy of the Halo: Reach game. This set costs about $400.

What Are Included

The Xbox 360 system includes a console, a wireless controller, a headset, built in WiFi, Ethernet cable and HDAV cables. Most systems come with a subscription to Xbox Live that allows the users to have an access to Facebook, Twitter and other additional games. The Xbox 360 systems include a port for Kinect, the sensor that allows the user to control their games using gestures or voices. Normally, a set of Xbox 360 system includes an additional wireless controller and about 1 to 3 games.

Added Costs You Need To Know

Generally, most games cost about $40 to $60 each. An example is the Red Dead Redemption that costs $40, and the Call of Duty: Black Ops costs $60. An additional wireless controller costs $50, while a Kinect sensor system costs $150 each.

A basic Xbox Live membership is free that allows users to access games, movies and music from the consoles. The Xbox Live Gold membership costs $60 per year, which includes Video Kinect and the access to play games online and access to social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. The Xbox Live Gold Family Pack includes four 12-month Xbox Live Gold memberships and costs $100.

Differences Between PS3 Move and The Kinect

Nintendo were the first to introduce a motion controller way back in 2006. It was not doubt a trail blazer for years creating a niche of its own and winning over millions of fans. However this is no longer the case as this distinction has been erased by PlayStation and Microsoft releasing their own versions of a motion controller called the "Move" and "Kinect" respectively.

With the battle for supremacy raging between PlayStation and Microsoft I compare the PS3 move against the Kinect highlighting the differences between PS3 Move and Kinect.

Kinect is unique in its ability to picks up your body movement without a need to physically hold a controller. The Kinect consists of a webcam like camera (the Kinect Sensor) which has the ability to capture 3D movements, as well as facial and audio recognitions. Players interact with their console through a combination of well crafted User Interface and spoken commands. While a hands free motion controller is appealing to someone like me, other gamers will probably prefer a closer interaction with their gameplay which is where the Move excels.

The Move bears a similar resemblance to the Wii controller but differs in its capabilities (especially in the ability to track 3D movements). The Move consists of a motion controller wand and the PlayStation Eye camera used for tracking both the position and motion of the wand. Players interaction with gameplay is through the aid of buttons and not your body movements. I must say the Move lean towards hardcore gamers while the Kinect appears to be wooing families and casual gamers (there is also an additional controller called the PS3 Navigation controller which you may need to buy for some PS3 games).

Here are some of the things to consider when comparing the differences between PS3 Move and Kinect:

Distance from Camera: If you are thinking of buying the Kinect you must bear in mind that you need to be at least six feet from the Sensor for proper interaction (this is more of a challenge in the UK bearing in mind the way most homes are designed).

The PS3 Move is however less demanding as you must be at least three feet aways from the PlayStation Eye Camera. You need to also ensure that the distance between you and the motion controller is cleared of debris and objects to avoid running into them during gameplay. To optimise audio level when configuring the Kinect ensure the sensor is at least 1 foot from any sound sources.

Where to place the Camera: Both motion controllers can be placed on top or below your TV. However the Kinect require more space than PS3 Move. You will need to ensure that your play area is well lit from behind the motion controller and not in the front because the controllers don't react well to sunlight. In some cases you might need to buy a vertical stand.

Ease of Use: You will find the Kinect more easy to use after set up. The User Interface is well designed that any casual gamer can hit the ground running but learning how to use the PS3 Move controller buttons can be intimidating to any new comer. On the other hand the PS3 Move is more responsive to your movements than the Kinect.

Price Comparison: The Kinect is more expensive than the Move controller but can support two players. You will need to buy a second pair of controllers for the second player on PlayStation.

Games: There are not many PS3 and Xbox 360 games taking full advantage of these technology at the moment. However considering the fact that they are relatively new you can be sure that things will soon change.

The Kinect so far appears to be winning the war with record sales within the first few months of its release. To the neutral this is nothing more but a win win situation as we can be sure that this innovations will certainly pave the way for awesome gaming experiences in the future.

Nintendo 3DS Specification and Features

This is a quick specification for the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming console. With more features than ever before this is set to be a real turning point in handheld gaming. Take a look at this list of features:

Full 3D support: It contains 3 internal cameras so that you can see in 3d without 3D glasses - this adds extra features and fun to every game.

Larger screen: The 3Ds has a larger screen than the standard 3DS, allowing higher quality graphics, and of course the 3D effect to be possible.

2GB memory cards: The 3DS takes standard 2GB memory cards - large enough for pretty much any gamer to store all of their games and still have space!

Wireless multi-play: You can connect to a LAN server, or if you are in the same area you can use wireless - this is huge and will open up so many multiplayer opportunities on the 3ds - not to mention street pass functionality where you can swap data with other 3DS users on the move and play minigames (Zelda, Street Fighter 3DS, and Metal Gear Solid all include these features). T

Amazing Graphics: The graphics are the best available on a handheld device - they are BETTER THAN THE WII, and surpass the Sony PSP! This is not just another Nintendo project for families and children, but it is feature rich and will tap into the real gamer market too!

Verdict

The most advanced handheld device ever, and a real "game changer". The Nintendo 3DS lives up to the hype. It contains full 3d, which has never been seen before on a gaming device let alone a handheld, as well as unique, and addictive features which will have you coming back for more time and time again.

Widely sold out and unable to pre-order in many local gaming stores people are going CRAZY for the Nintendo 3DS. It's unique features, 3D functionality, and of course it's mixture of remastered classics (such as Pilotwings 3DS and Nintendogs 3DS... and this is without mentioning that the 3DS is completely backwards compatible with all DS and DSi titles!

The 3DS is the perfect gift for children, or even your mom, but it crosses over, the Wii has been accused of ONLY going after the family gaming market... even creating it... well the 3DS changes that, it's not just an updated DS... it is a brand new system, and caters for everyone - including hardcore gamers who want graphics, action, and a real challenge...

If you miss out on the 3DS, well.... I actually don't think you can.. if you are a gaming fan, a Nintendo fan, a fan of Mario, Zelda, handheld gaming... there are just so many reasons to get one, if you are a fan of any of these areas then the 3DS does it better, newer, more uniquely (and if FULL 3D), than anyone else.

PSP 3000 PlayStation Portable

Sony's PSP 3000 is a streamlined and compact entertainment station which you can easily take with you, and use on the go.

Not only is it possible to play the hottest new 3D video games with high-fidelity audio and full-motion video, you can even listen to your MP3s and watch movies. Get connected to the Web in any wi-fi hotspot, and play online or browse the net. The built-in microphone will mean that you can perhaps even chat to friends and family on Skype. If, perhaps you are at home, why not just connect the PSP up to your television screen for a larger than life video gaming experience.

One of several upgraded features on this PSP 3000 is definitely the large, bright screen that's clearer and easier to see than ever before. It also has an improved anti-reflective layer that makes the visibility clearer even in bright and well-lit locations, or outside.

The PSP catalogue of available game titles is ever increasing, and contains a vast array of games to accommodate everyone - from action and strategy, to puzzles, sports or education and learning. The PSP 3000 uses Universal Media Discs, so you can buy either games or films to watch and play on your handheld station. Or you can transfer previously recorded media (movies, games, MP3s, MP4s, WAV files and more) by using a Memory Stick Duo.

What you'll receive in the box is the PSP 3000, an AC power cable, and AC adapter, a battery pack, as well as the essential documentation.

Pros

One individual made a number of favorable remarks on this PSP 300 as improvements on earlier versions - he said that the unit itself is thinner and more compact, the AV video compatibility which means that you can connect up to non-HD televisions, and the reduced glare display screen.

Many people were impressed by how comfortable, natural and easy to use the control keys and buttons were, even considering the size is more compact than previous designs. They were also impressed by the level of personal customisation that can be done.

One thing to take into account when choosing handheld entertainment systems is the selection and availability of games, and it would be difficult to do better than the Sony PS range.

Cons

A few of the negatives that one customer commented on were the UMD load times as well as the slow wi-fi.

Other things that people didn't like were there fact that this PSP doesn't have any internal memory, you always have to use a memory stick or some other device, and also that the speaker volume was too quiet.

Some individuals also stated that there were scan lines across the display screen making viewing difficult, and some people declared that the screen was very fragile and easily prone to dead pixels.

The Sony PSP 3000 is really a sleek and stylish entertainment system that can conveniently slip into your pocket. With a wide array of games available, you will be spoilt for choice. Hook up to the internet, listen to music, watch movies or play games - it's up to you!

Your PS3 Shut Off and You Keep Getting A Blinking Red Light - What To Do To Fix This Mess

So your PS3 shut off and you are seeing a blinking red light? You've been cursed with the red kiss of death, right? Your whole world is suddenly crashing down on you because you can't play Killzone 3 and its driving you crazy. Well before you take a baseball bat to your PS3, here are a few things you can try to solve the fact that your PS3 shut off and you are seeing a blinking red light.

1. First off, make sure your PS3 system is off. Now let it cool down for about 20 minutes or so. After the cool down, set it up in a more ventilated place and put it on a flat surface. If it was on the carpet, don't have it there anymore because carpets can block the vents on the unit and trap the heat, making it more likely to overheat.

2. Examine your system for dust in the vents. Airflow can become obstructed by dust and this can make the PS3 have to work harder to cool down properly, causing the PS3 the shut off and the blinking red lights. You can try using a dust vac or a shop vac to remove the dust from the vents. Be careful though if your going to use a shop vac because some of them are very powerful.

3. See if you can determine if anything is stuck in the fan or perhaps blocking it. Examine the fan for hair, bugs, dust, or any other obstructions.

After following the steps above, if your PS3 is still showing the blinking red lights and continues to shut off then you may have a more serious problem that is within the unit and not visibly seen. At this point you have two choices. (Actually three - you can choose to not play your PlayStation 3 anymore.) Assuming that you do want to play again you can either call Sony or try to repair the unit yourself.

If you call Sony they will tell you need to send in your system to them no matter what the problem is. Their service fee is quite hefty and you can say goodbye to your PS3 for 4 to 6 weeks.

The less expensive and faster way to fix your system is to do it yourself. It's actually easier than you might think and there are several do-it-yourself PS3 repair guides available to you on the internet. Just use common sense when reviewing these guides to make sure they have full step by step instructions and a customer support system in place.

Wii Remote Troubleshooting

The Wii Remote is what makes the Wii "the Wii". Its ability to respond to movement is the major reason for the Wii's popularity. We all get some sort of feeling of satisfaction when we make a movement with the remote and see a character respond to the movement- whether it be swinging a sword or tennis racket etc. So when the Wii remote stops working the lifeblood of the Wii is dead. So it is absolutely crucial that you carry out Wii remote troubleshooting to get the remote back in working order. Below are some tips to do just that.

Check the sensor bar to see if it is positioned correctly. It should not be behind the television, but should sit on level with the television. This is to ensure that it receives the correct information from the Wii remote as you use it. If it is not place correctly, the Wii may misinterpret the information sent from the remote to the sensor bar.

Check to see that there are no obstructions between the Wii sensor bar and the remote as these can block signals going from the remote to the sensor bar. If possible, move any ornaments or any other object between you and the sensor bar, so that there are no obstructions which can block the signal.

Turn the Wii on and press a button on the Wii remote. If the lights on the remote flash, then go out the remote may not be synced with the console. This commonly occurs with a new remote that did not come with the console. To get your console to recognize the remote, sync the remote with the with the Wii (the instructions to do this are in your Wii Operations Manual).

* If the Wii remote still does not work properly, try changing the batteries in it. If you use the Wii a lot, the batteries can discharge very quickly.
* Bright sources of light such as sunlight shining towards the remote may cause problems with the remote. If possible try to prevent as much sunlight from entering the room.
* Infrared light may also adversely affect the remote. These may come from heat sources like flames from fireplaces, candles, stoves and so on.
* Radio frequency such as that produced by cordless phones, wireless key boards and mice may cause the remote to react erratically. Remove these sources of interface, if possible.

Wii Freezing Fix

The Wii is responsible for keeping you safe from the clutches of boredom. Its ease of use coupled with fun, interactive games and the amazing ability of turning your movements into actions is the reason for it being one of the most popular and fun console today. So it is a terrible thing when the Wii starts to freeze. The fixes for this problem depends on when the Wii freezes. It basically breaks down to weather the Wii freezes during gameplay or if it freezes at a menu screen. Below are some possible causes and fixes for the Wii freezing problem:

If the Wii freezes during gameplay, it may be a problem with the game; for example the game CD may be too scratched up for it to work properly in the Wii, the game may have bugs in it etc. Try playing another game to see if that is the problem.

Overheating can also cause the Wii to freeze either in gameplay, menu screen...or anywhere for that matter. Overheating is mainly caused by 2 factors:

1) The Wii not places in a well-ventilated area
2) Dust buildup inside the Wii

If your Wii is not in a well-ventilated area, then it may not be able to cool effectively resulting in the overheating problem. If your console has overheated due to this, leave it to cool in a well-ventilated area, for a few hours. Afterward, always play it in a well-ventilated area so that it does not overheat again.

Dust buildup inside the Wii may also cause overheating. This is more common in older Wiis. Over time, dust will find its way inside the Wii and settle on the internal components. This dust traps heat and makes it harder for the Wii to keep cool. If this is causing the Wii to overheat, try using a can of compressed air to remove the dust.

If unfortunately, none of those tips work, you are left with 2 options:

1) Let Nintendo repair it- I would recommend this solution if your Wii is still under warranty since the creators will be repairing it, and you shouldn't have to pay for the repairs. If you are one of the unfortunate people whose warranty has expired, you can be charged $50 and up for a Wii repair. Also all Wii's that are sent to Nintendo for repairs take few weeks before they are returned. That's a very, very long wait for a Wii freezing fix.

2) Fix the Wii yourself- It is possible to fix the Wii yourself, but you will need a good Wii repair guide. The advantages of having such a guide is that you determine how long it takes for the Wii to be repaired, many good repair guides cost less than $30 dollars and they do not require any special tools.

PS3 Fix - Yellow Light of Death

The Yellow Light of Death (ylod) is a condition where the PS3 becomes unresponsive and will not turn on. The main Symptom of the Yellow Light of Death is a yellow light in place of the normal power light. The Yellow Light of Death (ylod) is very rare and affects very few PlayStation 3 owners however, if you one of the unlucky ones there are some things that you can do.

Prevention

Just like in anything else prevention is key. The Yellow Light of Death is a overheating problem and is caused when the circuits become disconnected from the circuit board. Most tips to prevent overheating are common sense however, few do them so I will list them anyway.

• Make sure your PS3 has plenty of breathing room, and is in a well ventilated space.

• Make sure there are no heat vents near your PS3 and that your PS3 is not near any other electronics that put out a lot of heat.

• Clean and dust your PS3 and around it often, dusk not only will clog your PlayStation's fans, but it also will act as an insulator an keeps the heat inside your PS3.

• Keeping your PS3 in a vertical position helps it dispense heat faster.

• Take a break after playing for a few hours, especially with a processor intensive game.

Fixing the Yellow Light of Death

So now you are probably asking yourself, "What if I already have the Yellow Light of Death?". The answer is simple you have three options.

1. Send your PlayStation 3 to Sony to have the pros fix it.

-This is a great option if your warranty hasn't expired yet but if it has been a couple of years and

you no longer have a warranty, Sony will force you to pay about $150.

2. Cut your losses and Upgrade to the Slim

-This is only a good option if you only have an older version of a PS3 and you have a good reason

but most people, myself included can't justify buying a whole new PlayStation 3.

3. Fix your PS3 yourself

-Many people think that this is a really daunting task but in reality it isn't too bad. There are many guides online that contain videos and pictures to show you exactly how fix your PS3 for a fraction of the cost. There are guides of about $30 that contain step by step video instructions to fix your PlayStation 3.

Best 3 Hand Held Consoles Ever

Hand held gaming has come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years. Gone are the days of lighting up a set of stationary LCD aliens, hand held gaming is every bit as hi-tech as its home based counter part.

The mobile gaming market has been a difficult one to break into in the past. It is dominated by a couple of big manufacturers. Gaming as a whole has changed drastically over the last few years; the target age group has risen from teens to twenties and beyond.

Hand held gaming has become extremely popular with all age groups, but which are the three to look out for? Which are the three best hand-held consoles?

1. Nintendo Game Boy. The game boy is looking a little dated now but back in 1989 it was a technological wonder and it became so popular that it is impossible to create this list without mentioning it. The Game Boy was an 8 bit black and white device that had some of the most addictive games ever created. Titles such as Tetris made the Game Boy a huge success.

2. Sony PSP. Sony entered the hand held games market with the PSP or Playstation portable in 2004 and it was basically a portable Playstation 1. The size of the screen meant that the otherwise blocky graphics of the Playstation actually looked extremely sharp on the PSP. The PSP was the very first hand held gaming system to use optical disks rather than cartridges. It has a huge screen, popular games titles and good connectivity options. The fact that the Sony PSP still sells well 7 years after its launch is a testament to its greatness!

3. Nintendo 3DS. The newest device in our line up is another helping from the games giant that is Nintendo. The 3DS was launched early in 2011 and is the first console and in fact one of the first entertainment devices ever to offer a 3D display without the use of glasses. The effect is simply stunning and no doubt over the years will become as successful as the Game Boy was before it. If it had been on the market longer it would have been our number 1!

What does the future hold for mobile gaming? Nobody really knows but one thing is for sure, Nintendo have set the bar high with the 3DS and the others will have to do something to catch up.

PS3 Problems: What Causes Blinking Red Light?

Do you have a blinking red light on your PS3 and want to know what is causing it? There have been several people who have had this problem and for many it has caused their PlayStation to stop working. Having a broken game system is no fun; especially if you use it to pass your time by or compete against friends. Once you learn what is causing your PS3 flashing red light you will be able to fix it or get someone to fix it, but first you have to know what the causes are so that you will be able to track down the problem.

One reason that a PS3 might have a blinking light is because the cables are loose on it. If this is your problem then you are in luck. The fix is easy! All you have to do is check the connections of the wires coming out of and going into your PS3 to make sure that everything is secure. Once you have checked and made sure everything is tight, try restarting your PlayStation console and find out if this took care of it.

Still no luck?

Another reason that you might be getting a blinking red light is because your PS3 is overheating. This is an issue that most of the time messes up a PlayStation for good until it is fixed. If you have your gaming system in a closed in area, you should move it to a well ventilated one. Let it sit and cool off for a few hours and then try once again to turn it on. If you are still getting a flashing red light then you have the biggest problem anyone could have with their PS3.

The most common reason for getting a PS3 blinking red light is due to a hardware failure. Most of the time what this means is there is a problem with your motherboard. If you contact Sony they will tell you that they can fix it, but it will cost you in the neighborhood of $150, take 6 weeks for your console to be returned, and your hard drive will be wiped clean when you get your console back. Ok, I know your heart just went in your stomach like mine did when I found out that information, but let me assure you that you can make the repairs yourself at home. All you need is the right set of instructions to help you take your PS3 apart, retain the data on your hard drive, and fix your motherboard. With the right information you will be able to fix your PS3 and get back to your game in no time.
